The Best AI Social Media Tools for Small Business, Compared (2026)
The best AI social media tool for a small business depends on what you want AI to do: write, design, schedule or report. A dated comparison of five tools on plain criteria, and how to pick.
By Hadrien Bonato-Pape · · Comparisons
The best AI social media tool for small business owners is the one that takes over the part of the job you actually struggle with: writing captions, making visuals and videos, scheduling, or reading your numbers. Classic schedulers (Buffer, Hootsuite, Metricool) have added a writing assistant to their calendar; creation tools (Predis.ai, Oposto) also generate the visuals. This comparison, built from each vendor's own pages as of October 2026, helps you choose.
Before comparing tools, it helps to know what AI really does in place of a social media manager and what it doesn't. That's the subject of our guide to the AI social media manager. Here we stay practical: who does what, at what listed price, for whom.
Where to start, depending on your situation
- You write and design your own posts and just need a calendar Buffer AI: a writing assistant added to the calendar
- Your team handles lots of messages and accounts Hootsuite AI: drafts posts and images
- You send monthly reports to clients Metricool AI: an assistant with monthly credits per brand
- You need many product and ad variations Predis.ai AI: generates posts, carousels, videos and ads
- You don't have time to produce the content itself Oposto AI: generates posts, carousels and short videos
What should a small business look for in an AI social media tool?
Sales pages all sound alike. To compare, ask six questions, in this order:
- What does the AI generate? Text only (captions, hashtags, rewrites), or images, carousels and videos too?
- Where does the AI learn your brand? From a prompt you retype every time, or from a saved brand profile (voice, colors, products, audience)?
- Which networks can it publish to? Check the exact list: YouTube, Pinterest or LinkedIn are sometimes missing or sold as an add-on.
- Is there an approval step? Essential as soon as a client, a manager or a business partner needs to sign off.
- What does it measure? Per-post results, results by format, competitors, best times.
- What will it really cost at your size? Depending on the vendor, price scales with channels, users, brands or generation credits.

Two families of AI tools
Schedulers
- Buffer, Hootsuite, Metricool
- The calendar comes first
- A writing assistant added on
Creation tools
- Predis.ai, Oposto
- Also generate the visuals
- Carousels and videos included
Buffer: simple scheduling with a writing assistant
As of October 2026, Buffer's pricing page lists a free plan (up to 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel, 1 user) and two paid plans priced per channel: Essentials at $5 per channel per month billed yearly, and Team at $10 per channel per month, which adds unlimited team members and approval workflows. Its AI Assistant helps you brainstorm, rewrite, shorten or tailor a post for each platform. Buffer states that its core features (posting, scheduling, planning) aren't AI-powered and that the assistant only runs when you open it.
Best for: a solo owner or small team that already writes its posts, makes visuals elsewhere, and wants a reliable, inexpensive calendar.
Hootsuite: the full suite for teams
Hootsuite's plans page shows four tiers (Standard, Professional, Advanced, Enterprise) with a 14-day free trial and no credit card required. Its FAQ says paid plans start at $99 for Standard, priced per user with annual billing, before taxes. From Standard up, the page lists AI-generated posts and images, a unified inbox and brand and competitor monitoring; team approvals come with Advanced.
Best for: a marketing or customer care team juggling many accounts and messages, where the inbox and listening matter as much as publishing.
Metricool: analytics first
According to Metricool's pricing page, the free plan covers one brand, 20 scheduled posts a month, 5 competitor profiles and 30 days of analytics, without LinkedIn or X. Paid plans (Starter, Advanced, Custom) are priced by number of brands, before VAT or sales tax. The AI assistant runs on monthly credits per brand, and the post approval system is part of Advanced. Its real strength is reporting: history, competitors, PDF reports.
Best for: a freelancer or agency handling several brands that has to send clients numbers every month.
Predis.ai: creative volume
Predis.ai's pricing page lists three paid plans (Core, Rise, Enterprise+) built on monthly credits: every generated image, slide or second of video uses credits. When we read it, Core was shown at $24 a month billed yearly ($288 a year), with a limited-time discount. The trial lasts 3 days and requires a card. The tool generates posts, carousels, videos and ad creatives, offers competitor analysis and, on higher tiers, auto-posting of generated posts that you can review before they go out. We cover it in detail in our Predis.ai alternative comparison.
Best for: an online store or ads team that needs lots of product and ad variations.
Oposto: create and publish from your brand
Oposto starts from your website to learn your brand: voice, colors, products, audience. That's its content DNA. From it, Oposto generates posts, image carousels, design carousels, slide carousels and short videos with voiceover and captions, organized into campaigns on a calendar. You approve, and it publishes to 8 networks (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, X, Pinterest) at the scheduled time, adapting each post to each network. It also reviews every post before it goes out, with a score and recommendations, then tracks real performance and reuses what works.
Best for: a small business, solo founder or agency that mostly lacks time to produce, and wants the visuals and videos made, not just scheduled.
Listed entry prices
- $5 Buffer Essentials, per channel per month, billed yearly
- $99 Hootsuite Standard, per user, annual billing, before taxes
- $24 Predis.ai Core, a month billed yearly, with a limited-time discount
Which tool fits your situation?
| Your situation | Look at first |
|---|---|
| You write and design your own posts and just need a calendar | Buffer |
| Your team handles lots of messages and accounts | Hootsuite |
| You send monthly reports to clients | Metricool |
| You need many product and ad variations | Predis.ai |
| You don't have time to produce the content itself | Oposto |
Two tools can also live side by side: one to create, one for the reports your client already reads. What gets expensive is paying twice for the same feature.
Don't skip the free tools you already have
Meta Business Suite, TikTok Studio and LinkedIn's own scheduler cost nothing and post natively. If you publish on one or two networks and make everything yourself, they may be enough for now. A third-party tool earns its place when you post across several networks, work with others, or need help producing the content. What each native scheduler can and can't do is covered in can you schedule a Reel.
How do you test an AI tool in one week?
- Use the same brief in every tool: same offer, same audience, same network. Our method is in how to write an AI content brief.
- Ask for three posts in different formats: a single image post, a carousel, a short video if the tool supports it.
- Count your edits. Time saved is measured after review: a caption you rewrite from scratch saved you nothing.
- Check that it sounds like you. The tells of generic copy are listed in keeping a human voice with AI.
- Actually schedule on a secondary account to check publishing, formats and failures.

Try Oposto
You can try Oposto on the free plan, no credit card needed: enter your website, it learns your brand and suggests your first posts to approve. Owner, Admin, Editor and Viewer roles let several people work together, and each brand gets its own project. Discover Oposto.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI social media tool for a small business?
There isn't one for everyone. If you mainly need a calendar and help with captions, a scheduler like Buffer is enough. If you lack time to create visuals and videos, pick a tool that generates them from your brand.
Is there a free AI tool to manage social media?
Yes, several offer a limited free plan as of October 2026: Buffer, Metricool and Oposto. Limits cover the number of accounts, scheduled posts per month or generations. Hootsuite and Predis.ai offer a free trial rather than a free plan.
Can an AI tool replace a social media manager?
It replaces part of the production time: writing, adapting posts per network, visuals, scheduling. It doesn't replace knowing your customers, replying in the comments or making strategy calls. A human review is still needed before each post goes out.
How do you compare AI tool pricing?
Map each offer to your case: number of accounts, users, brands and generated posts per month. Depending on the tool, price scales with channels, users, brands or credits, and some listed prices include a temporary discount.
